Penmound 

A small town in the heart of England, Penmound has a busy market square, a small high street, various pubs and restaurants, three churches, an excellent MiniMart and its fair share of gossip. Some buildings date back centuries while others appeared as recently as the19th century

 

Crianloch 

A tiny community in the Scottish highlands, Crianloch sits on the shores of the loch which bears its name, has 1½ pubs, a church, a general store, and is 50 minutes south-west of Inverness. It also has a thriving Shinty team and just outside the town, a Weather Research Station

  

Drumnadrochit

Situated on the shores of Loch Ness, and roughly halfway between Fort William and Inverness Fort Drumnadrochit is a great base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands, Castle Urquhart and Glen Afric, as well as being a favourite spot for Nessie-hunters

Lundy island

Lundy Island is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Statutory Marine Nature reserve, and a Marine Conservation Zone. It’s in the Bristol Channel, 12 miles from the North Devon coast, is 3 miles long, has a permanent population of 28, and is reached onboard the MS Oldenburg

 

Lossiemouth

A large town on the North Sea, about 45 miles East-North-east of Inverness, the town's first harbour was built in 1765 for the fishing industry, although the main employer today is RAF Lossiemouth. The town also boasts two marinas, and a climate that averages 1°C to 17°C

 

Inverness

At the northern end of the Great Glen, Inverness is considered by many to be the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. It’s also home of the University of the Highlands and Islands University, and has a castle, cathedral, shopping mall, and a covered Victorian Market

Other locations

Other locations featured include Cambridge, London, and Raleigh (North Carolina), as do the fictional villages of Effington and Wensbridge. These only do so though as the locations of some of the characters, rather than as places that play a direct role in the story. Penmound and Crianloch are also fictional
