Recurring

Jenny Stephens

Paints manager in a DIY store, she’s 29, lives in Penmound, is very tidy, an avid people-watcher and is best friends with Nigel, who she also wants to throttle at times. She’s always up for a road trip, loves detective stories, and listens to London Grammar and Lana del Rey

Nigel Bellroy

A layabout, according to his grandmother, he’s 31, writes short stories, is a pub regular, can be presentable when he tries (which isn’t often), and is passably bad at cooking. He reads science fiction, and listens to a range of things from John Mayer, to 80s and 90s rock

Liz Benning

A Cambridge professor of animal behaviours, she’s 31, a vegan, can’t stand technology and goes running for relaxation. She lives in a modern apartment, is very stylish, only reads textbooks, and listens to Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Sons and Ellie Goulding

David Marston

An RAF Group Captain, he’s 32, heads up an airbase in Scotland, has a double first from Oxford University, and is such a coffee snob, he even has a favourite, professional-grade machine. He competes in triathlons, reads sports autobiographies, and listens to AC/DC

Erica McBride

An ambitious journalist, she’s 34, writes a weekly column about bizarre stories from around the world, and lives with her wife near Inverness city centre. She loves the Victorian Market, drives an old, green Mini, enjoys podcasts like S-Town, and listens to Michael Bublé

Entanglement

From a Liverpudlian milkman who can't understand his Scottish customers (and vice versa), to the boffin who's tie has a long and meaningful relationship with soup, Entanglement is full of bizarre characters

Gran

Gran, as friends and family know her, is a loving matriarch to children and grandchildren alike. A fan of crosswords and sudoku, she lives in the Cambridgeshire village of Wensbridge and has instilled into her whole family, that morning coffee is always at 11:00 and lunch is always at 1 o'clock

Dr Jess Williams

Jess is a young but brilliant physicist with a ready smile and a preference for white, high-top Converse All-Stars. Based at Crianloch, she is particularly adept at seeing patterns in data and constantly frustrates her manager with analogies about helicopters and jelly

The Director General of MI5, The UK Defence Secretary & various official personnel

A secretive group of individuals who task to find out what's gone wrong in the world, parallels that of the recurring characters, but who finds the answer first?

And ...

As well as this motley crew, you also meet Steve and Grant, the IT experts for whom Liz Benning is the bane of their lives, and the local gossip, who's so good at passing the word around, that's earned a very special nickname

Transference

Delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, and now coming 2022
